Stakeholder engagement in exploration and mining

Social license to operate (SLO) continues to be top risk for miners based on the survey done for the mining and metals executives. Among other mining professional, geologists are key persons for creating positive image towards exploration and mining companies and thus have an important role in gaining the SLO. Stakeholder engagement needs to be incorporated to the education related to mining. As part of the EIT RawMaterial funded EXplORE-project, Oulu Mining School organized short course “Stakeholder engagement in exploration and mining” in collaboration with the University of Lapland, Mawson Oy and Finnish Network of Sustainable Mining. The course was open to everyone interested via video connection.
